Stephen William Weber

Age 80, died June 11, 2012 after a long illness.

Stephen was born October 09, 1931 in Weston, the only son of the late Katheryn Stephane Tierney and Louis Paul Weber.

Stephen graduated from St. Patrick’s Catholic High School. He earned his degree in economics with honors from West Virginia University in 1954.

After college, Stephen served as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, and was stationed in Germany.

In 1959, Stephen returned home and married the former Sylvia Garrett, whom he had met during his time at WVU. The couple settled in Charleston and moved to Teays Valley in 1975.

Stephen worked as an insurance adjuster for the General Adjustment Bureau, which later merged with the Continental Corp and was acquired by CNA Financial Corp. Stephen retired as a supervising adjuster during the 1980s.

Stephen was known as a quiet, gentle man who loved his family. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and cultivating flowers and was known for his wry sense of humor.

Stephen is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sylvia; daughter, Anne and her husband, Lance Schmidt of Erlanger, KY; son, Paul Weber and his wife Kim, of Charleston; and their children, Katy and Wilson; and son, Stephen and his wife, Stephanie, of Falls Church, VA; and their children, Lauren and Jared.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, June 15, St. Agnes Catholic Church, 4807 Staunton Ave S.E., Charleston, with Father Chris Turner officiating.

Visitation was held at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, 1118 Virginia Street, Charleston, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, June 14, 2012.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial contributions be donated to Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd., West, Charleston, WV or St. Agnes Catholic Church, 4807 Staunton Ave., SE. Charleston, WV 25304.

Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home has been entrusted to handle the arrangements.
