Lewis County: Woodland Owners Tree Farm Walking Tour - Saturday, June 23, 2012

Duke and Justin Layfield, 2010 WV Tree Farmers of the Year, will host a tour of their property in Lewis County on June 23, 2012.

Learn from them key strategies in maintaining access roads, controlling invasive plants, harvesting timber, and planting oak trees.

Tour also includes visits to a grove of native persimmon trees, wildlife food plots and ponds, and a fruit and berry orchard.

The walking tour will cover generally flat ground with a few relatively steep sections, so it is recommended to wear sturdy walking shoes. Following the walking tour, a lunch will be provided.
