Homer Ray Huffman, Sr.

Age 81, of Weston, WV, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Salem Care and Rehab following an extended illness.

He was born in Holly Grove, February 28, 1931 the son of the late Ira M. Huffman and Nancy E. Seacrest Huffman.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy May McDonald Huffman on July 04, 1998.

He is survived by six children; Bonnie McDonald of Arlington, Va., Mary McNair of Clarksburg, Ray Huffman of Woodbridge, Va., Donald Huffman and wife Cheryl of Baltimore, MD, Gloria Turner of Clarksburg, and Kenneth D. Huffman of Weston; eight grandchildren; Sharon, Tiny, Thomas, Tyler, Sean, Aaron, Jimmie and Emily; four great.grandchildren; two brothers; Herman Huffman of Boise, ID and Kenner “Buddy” Huffman of Charleston; three sisters; Louise Hudnall, Ethel Howell and Juanita Johnson.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by one brother; Herbert and one infant brother Aaron.

Homer was born in Holly Grove, near Charleston, after graduating high school; he went on to join the US Army. He served during the Korean War and continued his service until retirement, a total of 20 years. After his military service he found a job working for the US Postal Service as a truck driver, this became the job he would keep until his retirement, when he would then settle in West Virginia because of his love of West Virginia and the West Virginia Mountaineers. He will be greatly missed.

Family and friends were received at the Davis Funeral Home, One Olen Thomas Drive, Clarksburg from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, May 20.

Friends were also received at the Groverton Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA, on Tuesday, May 22, from 12:00 PM until the time of service at 1:00 PM with the Reverend Jerry Frazier officiating.

Interment followed in the Mt. Comfort Cemetery.
