Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito – Honoring Our Nation`s Heroes

Over the past few weeks, I have been hard at work protecting our energy rich state against the EPA and its anti-coal regulations. On Monday, I attended the first of three events hosted by the West Virginia Coal Forum. The Coal Forum is a state-funded program designed to promote safety programs and advocate for the state’s coal industry.
At the first event in Charleston I emphasized the need for a realistic, common-sense approach to regulating the coal industry and industries that rely on coal. I can assure you that we are united in protecting this vital resource. This is not just a West Virginia issue, it’s not a Republican or Democrat issue; it’s an issue for all of us across the country. Coal provides nearly 50% of our nation’s electricity—we cannot shut down this resource.
Honoring Our Nation’s Heroes
On Monday, May 28th, our nation will celebrate Memorial Day and honor those who have served our country in the armed forces, both past and present. I ask you to take a moment to thank these individuals, and to remind them that their efforts do not go unnoticed. I wish you a safe and happy holiday.
It is an honor to serve you.
Sincerely,
