Paul Nay

Age 94, of Jane Lew, passed away April 09, 2012, at Crestview Manor.

He was born March 06, 1918, the son of the late Ira P. and Bertha H. Hall Nay.

Paul married Ella Margaret “Toots” Rapking, July 9, 1938, who preceded him in death in March 2011.

Paul is survived by three sons, Robert L. Nay and wife Mary Ann Jackson, Theodore A. Nay and wife Carol Ann Coffindaffer, and Donald G. Nay and wife Charlotte Sochko; two daughters, Janet S. Hite and husband David and Deborah A. Stutler and husband Tracy; 12 grandchildren, Julie Antoinette Irizarry, Margaret Katherine Sulpy, Lora Michelle DaRe, Thomas Ira Nay II, Tonda Lou DaRe, Nathaniel Aaron Nay, Kevin Easter Nay, Ladonna Kay Bingham, Deanna Lynn Deane, Heather Lynn Olcott, Adam Bradley Dobbins, Clinton Eric Dobbins; 24 great-grandchildren, Andrew Irizarry, Suzanne Irizarry, Daniel Irizarry, Karen Irizarry, Megan Elizabeth Sulpy, Katherine Anton Sulpy, Jeremy Paul DaRe, Mitchell Allen DaRe, Kevin Russel DaRe, Miranda Rae DaRe, Holly Noel Richards, Ella Lindsey Bingham, Zachary Bingham, Lacey Bingham, Cameron Alexander Nay, Kaleigh Elizabeth Nay, Faith Ann Deane, Megan Elizabeth Deane, Nathan Deane, Jonathan S. Deane, Christian Aaron Nay, Cheyenne Naki Nay, Michaela Katherine Olcott, Zoey Jayne Dobbins; one great-great-grandson, Noah.

He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas I. Nay, and one sister, Irene V. Nye.

Paul graduated from Unidis High School and attended the West Virginia University College of Agriculture. He owned and operated Nay’s Riverbend Farm Inc. in Good Hope. Paul was active in the 4-H and New Bethel United Methodist Church, where he held several offices. He was a member of the WVU Agriculture, Forestry and Consumer Sciences Alumni Association and received an Honorary Lifetime Member Award. He served on the WV Reclamation Board of Review.

He served as President of the WV Association Future Farmers of America and WV Farm Bureau. He was on the Board of Directors for Farm Family Life and Mutual Insurance; American Farm Bureau Federation; Federal Land Bank and Farm Credit Board of Baltimore. He received the West Virginia Farm Bureau Distinguished Service Award and was inducted into the West Virginia Agricultural and Forestry Hall of Fame.

Family and friends were received Thursday April 12, 2012, at Davis Funeral Home from 2:00 to 8:00 PM.

He will lie in repose at the New Bethel United Methodist Church from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour of 11:00 AM on Friday, April 13, 2012, with the Reverend Jerry L. Boyce and Reverend Gary Rapking officiating.

Interment will be at Good Hope Masonic Cemetery.
