Broad Run Association, an association of Churches that has been in existence for over 175 years, is kicking off their annual outreach Project for 2012.

This year’s mission project is “Operation Sole Support.”

They are collecting shoes for school age children in Lewis and surrounding Counties. Church Camp, held at Fisher Baptist Camp, on Gee Lick Road, Weston, WV, is considered at the heart of the outreach projects.

It was a former Camping Coordinator who first started including a mission outreach to the summer camping program. Some of the first projects where helping with materials for mission trips, buying animals for families to have food or provide an income in 3rd World Countries. Last year’s endeavor provided first aid supplies to local area organizations that give help to people in need.

This year’s mission outreach “Operation Sole Support” will be collecting new and clean used shoes for children of school age. These shoes will be distributed in area counties.

In June they will be kicking off the project by holding three Community drop off sites. With these drop off sites organizers trust this will make it easier not only for churches in the area to donate, but to include others in the community who might want to help also.

The sites will be manned by Camp staff, youth and volunteers.

Broad Run Assoc. Churches may deliver their donations during camps or at the drop off sites.
