Michael Shane Simpson
Age 53, of Reynoldsville, Ohio, formerly of Weston, WV passed away on Wednesday, July 04, 2012, in Mt. Carmel Hospital of Columbus, following a brief illness.
He was born in Weston, WV on August 28, 1958: son of the late Robert Roane Simpson and Priscilla Jane (White) Simpson of Weston.
Michael is survived by two brothers, Robert T. (Brenda) Simpson of Weston and Marshall (Stephanie) Simpson of Morgantown; three sisters, Kara L. (Steve) Rider of Hilliard, Ohio, Melissa (Paul) Falkenbach of Columbus, and Tina (Pat) Garska of Jane Lew.
He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Christopher, Joshua and Elizabeth Simpson, Sam Rider, Laura, Addyson and Abigail Aho, Sean Heater, Erin and Sarah Falkenbach and Mercedes, Malcolm and Madison Simpson.
Michael was a landscaper with GreenScapes for 13-years. He was a graduate of Lewis County High School in 1976 and graduated from Glenville State College in 1983 and 1984 with degrees in Sports Management and Business Administration.
Michael was active in sports from little league up to high school. At the high school level, he played football, baseball and ran track. He was also a member of DeMolay.
While at college Michael belonged to Lamba Chi fraternity. He was also part of the technical crew for musicals, was an RA, Cheerleader for 4-years and an illustrationist to the “Mercury.“
Michael enjoyed outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, skiing, diving and in later years he played softball. He was a proficient photographer.
At Michael’s request, he will be cremated and his ashes will be scattered at his favorite spot in West Virginia.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012, from 10:00 AM, until 12:00 Noon from the St. Matthew United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Michael S. Simpson Memorial Fund to benefit the Louis Bennett Public Library care of the Citizens Bank 47 Industrial Park Road, Jane Lew, WV 26378.
