Mary Ellen Stoneking

Age 83, of Parkersburg, passed away February 19, 2012, at her home.

She was born July 13, 1928 at Sand Fork in Gilmer County, WV, a daughter of the late Manassa and Martha Wilmoth Wilfong.

Mary was a member of the Blennerhassett Nazarene Church and was a homemaker.

She was a graduate of Mark’s Beauty School in Huntington and had at one time worked as a hairstylist and manicurist. She was an avid reader, she was an accomplished poet, with some of her poems being written into songs. Mary was an expert seamstress, enjoyed quilting, arranging wildflowers, loved cooking and taking care of the home. Above all she was a Christian woman who loved serving her Lord and her church.

Surviving is her husband of 63 years, Denzil R. Stoneking; two daughters, Pamela (John) Mello of Roanoke, VA and Beth (Dale) Cottrill of Beaver, PA; three grandchildren, Samuel (Emily) Beckett of Eagle Rock, PA, Sara (Tom) Baldauff of Pittsburgh, PA and Lara Cottrill of Beaver, PA; three great-grandchildren, Paul, Andrew and Grace Baldauff all of Pittsburgh; one sister, Evelyn Wright Parkersburg and her nephew, David E. (Norine) Wright and their daughter, Alysia of Parkersburg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Wilfong.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday at the Blennerhassett Nazarene Church. Rev. Robert Kniley will officiate and burial will follow at the Shiloh Cemetery.

The visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth Street, Parkersburg and an hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Memorial donations may be directed to the Blennerhassett Nazarene Church in Memory of Mary Stoneking.
