Geraldine “Gerry” Gatrell
Age 70, departed this life Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Mount Airy, NC.
She was born September 22, 1941 in Doddridge County, WV, a daughter of the late Oley and Grace Henderson Morgan.
Gerry was a 1959 graduate of the former Pennsboro High School and completed college classes through West Virginia State College and Parkersburg Community College. She worked for 30 years for the Ritchie County Board of Education, with 27 of those years she was the school secretary at Creed Collins Elementary School, Pennsboro, WV. Her interests in the community were evidenced by her participation in numerous community endeavors. She was awarded the lifetime PTO membership and was a lifetime member of the West Virginia School Service Personnel Association. She was always active in many community projects as a devoted member of the Pennsboro Woman’s Club where she held many offices. She had served as a Pennsboro City Councilwoman.
Gerry is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Alicia Gatrell, Fayetteville, NC, Dennis and Cinda Gatrell, Indian Trail, NC, and David and Jeannie Gatrell, Huntington, WV; sisters, Phyllis Williams, VA , Carolyn Bunner, Navarre, OH, Shirley Grey, St. Marys, WV, and Linda Spicer, Williamstown, WV; brother, Jim Morgan, Williamstown, WV; grandchildren, Megan, Tyler Jordan, Morgan, Casey, Tyler Ray, Derek, Ryan, Nick, Lauren, and Lacey; great-grandchildren, Lainey and Liana and faithful companion Poochie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R. Larry Gatrell; brother, O.R. “Sonny” Morgan.
Gerry will be dearly missed by all her friends and family.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 6:30 PM at the McCullough-Rogers funeral home, Pennsboro, WV, with the Evangelist Terry Jones officiating.
Burial in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Hebron, WV, at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:30 PM until 6:30 PM on Thursday.
Gerry’s request is in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Pennsboro Woman’s Club, 303 Masonic Ave., Pennsboro WV 26415.

Congratulations to Hunter Ashley for getting a 2nd place in the Discus throw. He may be a Freshman, but he can definately out throw a lot of sophmores, Juniors and seniors. Way to go Hunter. Practice always pays off. Proud of you.
