G-LtE™: PLANNING MEETING for the New School?

In the Glenville Democrat, under the editorial about the school coalition, was a note in bold that a joint meeting between the parents, teachers, etc. of both schools would be held Wednesday, May 30th, 9 AM at Troy School.
Being an “etc”, I figured I should go and my daughter in law, being a parent, thought the same thing.
We got there and found out that it was NOT a meeting between Mr. Blankenship, parents, teachers, and etc.
The “meeting between parents, teachers, etc.“ from both schools at Troy was the PLANNING MEETING for the new school, picked by Blankenship evidently, as Jane and I were not welcome there. I was told if I stayed, I could not participate and Jane was told to leave when she tried to ask the Troy School principal a question before the meeting started. So, we left.
There were plans up on a chart board, indicating they must already have everything all planned out. I asked Mr. Blankenship why he didn’t communicate with the school coalition and he told me the school board was supposed to do that.
Mr. Blankenship was rude and since when can a select committee use taxpayer funds to build a school with NO input from the taxpayers? There has been no contact with people in the Troy district by Mr. Blankenship about this proposed school. His attitude indicated he wanted NOTHING to do with the school coalition, which is the first group he should have communicated with!
I think it is time for an investigation of the state school board office, if this is how they “take over” districts. In a free country, the people paying the bill are the ones who are supposed to make decisions, not the government!
Something needs to be done to protect the children and the taxpayers in Gilmer County!! Aren’t there Sunshine Laws about meetings that have to do with spending taxpayer dollars?
