• 1990 United States Attorney Michael Carey announces that former West Virginia Governor Arch A. Moore, Jr., has been indicted on charges of extortion, mail and tax fraud, and obstruction of justice and has agreed to plead guilty. Moore admits using his position to extort $573,000 from the Maben Energy Corp. in 1985.
