County-By-County Unemployment Rates Tell the Story – April 2012

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in West Virginia inched downward one-tenth of a percentage point in April 2012 to 6.7%.

Unemployment rates declined in 42 counties as well.

Ten counties reported rising unemployment rates, including Boone, Hardy, Lincoln, Logan, Mingo, Monongalia, Pocahontas, Raleigh, Randolph, and Wyoming.

Three counties, Jefferson, Marion, and Taylor, reported no change in their unemployment rates in April.

Counties with unemployment rates below 5% included Jefferson (4.9%) and Monongalia (4.6%).

Counties with unemployment rates above 11% included Webster (11.6%), Boone (12.1%), and Pocahontas (12.7%).
