Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito – 02.17.12

I voted for the bipartisan agreement to extend much-needed tax relief for West Virginia families.
The “Payroll Tax Holiday” ensures nearly a million West Virginians will not see an average $1,000 tax hike.
Also, this agreement reforms and extends unemployment benefits and averts a massive cut to physician payment rates—all while protecting the Social Security Trust Fund.
This is good news for West Virginians.
Instead of paying hundreds of dollars more in taxes, 160 million families can budget that money for necessities like gas and groceries.
Three years ago this week the President’s failed ‘stimulus’ package was signed into law.
Since then, unemployment has averaged 9.%.
Our economy is still struggling—we absolutely can’t hit middle class families with a tax increase.
