Manoka Ruth Smith
Age 68, of 265 Hickory Hills Road Jane Lew, WV passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 in Holly River State Park following a sudden illness.
She was born in Glenville, WV on September 23, 1943: daughter of the late James Kerns and Viola Pearl (Conner) Kerns.
On December 04, 1961, she married Leonard “Jack” Smith, who survives.
She is also survived by three sons: Leonard Smith, Jr. of Parkersburg, David Smith of Jane Lew and Christopher (Kristie) Smith of Terra Alta and two grandchildren: Demi Smith and Jerrad Metz. Also surviving are two brothers: Toby Conner of Weston and Jimmy Kerns of Powhatan, VA, three sisters: Naomi Toms and Jean Youngblood both of Powhatan, VA and Beverly Elliott of Weston and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by three brothers: Paul Belknap, Edward Belknap, and Melvin Connor and one sister: Nora “Polly” Jefferies.
Mrs. Smith was a psychiatric aide at Weston State Hospital. She enjoyed camping, scrap booking, baking cakes, and working puzzles. Manoka enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2:00 PM from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Russell Furr officiating.
Interment will follow services in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew, WV.
