Local Journalist John Wolfe, Recipient of Multiple Awards

John G. Wolfe from Glenville, WV is the recipient of multiple awards in journalism.

John won the awards in the Better Newspaper Contest conducted by the West Virginia Press Association for the year 2011.

The presentation was at the banquet held Saturday evening, August 11, 2012 at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke, Lewis County, WV.

Following are the awards John won for his work at The Weston Democrat:


•  First Place Best Photography  - News; for a photo of a balloon launch in honor of missing Aliayah Lunsford.


•  Second Place Best Photography  - Feature; for a photo he took of fire trucks with crossed ladders in honor of Bob Marsh of Weston, during his funeral procession.


•  Second Place Best Coverage of Legal Issues  - for a story John did on the murder of toddler Rex Mick of Jane Lew, and the arrest of Christopher Sheppard in the case.


•  Third Place Best Reporting of Government Affairs - for a story he did on a Weston City Council meeting.


It should be noted that John Wolfe has worked as a reporter at The Weston Democrat for five years now.

Good work John.  The Weston Democrat is lucky to have an employee such as you.  I would tell you to keep up the excellent work, but knowing you those are words that does not need to be said.
