Gilmer County Vision Meeting

Thursday, July 19, 2012 6:00 PM

Gilmer County Senior Center, Glenville, WV

This is a great opportunity to come and participate in a discussion focusing on bringing 911 back to Gilmer County.

A potluck dinner will also be served.

The County Commissioners will personally provide the meat, condiments, and tableware.

The Commissioners request that everyone please bring a covered dish.

I was told the vision is that 911 has to be brought back by imposing a levy.  County Commission, have you not seen the pages of unpaid taxes advertised by the Sheriff? People can’t afford another levy. Nobody was asked to vote to give 911 away. With close to $600,000 left of OPEB and Rainy Money and I hear $150,000 promised by the Legislators, the taxes we have already paid should be enough to put up a building for 911 and EMS at the very least. We should get more out of a couple million tax dollars a year than what we have in the past. That doesn’t even include the BOE levy taxes and if there’s such a big carryover the bills aren’t taking it. If you can’t afford a monthly payment something is wrong.
