Gilmer County Commission Launch Website
The Gilmer County Commission has published a new website with the hopes of presenting the county with a new way of obtaining information from the County Courthouse.
The new website will serve the community by offering contact information, an updated courthouse calendar of events, and courthouse news, such as county grant funding, events, project updates, and audio from monthly commission meetings to name a few.
To check out the new website go to www.gilmerco.org.
You can also connect with us on Facebook by liking our page at www.facebook.com/gilmercommission.
When news is posted to the website, it will automatically update in your Facebook feed.
Please stop by, test out the website, and check back often for site updates.
Web site is a step in the right direction, along with the job duties of each elected official, the salary should have been listed. This is supposed to be public information, seems like they are hiding something. Just try to find out the total amount the sheriff made last year.

A good start for transparency would be to disclose the full amounts of money paid out by the Commission to settle its lawsuits. Another step in the right direction would be to disclose all the boards, committees etc., appointed by the Commission, including what the groups are supposed to do, how to contact them, a listing of citizens on them, and how members are paid, if any.

They could explain why they kept still and supported our school take over and giving us away. They could explain how they’ve been working on county consolidation for years and told us nothing. They might tell how they want to consolidate the other end of the county and who they want to give that too. Could tell us why they support Blankenship spin every day all the way. Could tell us a lot but just like always, they won’t.
