G-LtE™: Open Letter to ALL Citizens of Gilmer County
Are you going to let your community down for the next couple of generations? It is sure looking that way!
Our school issue(s) are bigger than you imagine. This will impact Gilmer County for two or three generations to come.
We are sitting back, letting our children and grandchildren be railroaded and stampeded over. By everyone. The State Department of Education, our legislators, Governor. No one is stepping in to halt this State Orchestrated Debacle.
Our children are being taught from the top down:
It’s OK to bully. They are learning this from the school administration. Citizens are being bullied by the State Board of Education. Citizens being bullied by elected and a handful of elites as well.
Our school system is being dismantled as we watch. As our schools go - - - so goes our communities. We all are aware of that.
Every one of us is the blame here. I do not care what you do or where you work. YOU are letting it happen. Surely most are aware of what is transpiring. Our community is small.
Why are not, our elected leaders coming forward to put a stop to this? Why are not those who are running for office currently speaking up and telling us what they will do? All silent.
Where are our local pastors in this? We have Baptists, Presbyterians, Methodists, Catholic and a lot of independent, non-denominational churches in our midst? You all are silent! You are letting the building blocks, the future of our community be destroyed. All silent.
Where are our local business owners? You all have a responsibility to your community as well. You are silent. Shame on you too. Hear nothing from the doctors and realtors. All silent.
Parents and grandparents. Our children are learning right from YOU - - by your example that it is ‘ok’ to be bullied. They see you cowering in a corner and not taking up for them.
The same is true with a lot of the teachers. Good at teaching out of a book, but doing poorly by example of standing up for what is wrong in the school system. Our retired teachers. Where are you? All silent!
Teachers and district employees, have the most to gain if this issue is corrected. Teachers and district employees also have the most to lose if this is not remedies. You have a union. You can file grievances. You can do something. What you are doing now is teaching this generation to be a bunch of wimps and cowards. Our children look up to you for leadership and guidance. Again, all silent.
Where is the Senior Center? Their employees? The Court House, City Hall? All silent.
Our local organizations? Where are you? Farm Bureau, Folk Festival, Historical Society, Lions Club, Extension, Fire Departments? All silent.
Where are the drug store owners and employees, dollar store employees, restaurant employees, bank employees, oil company employees? Again. All silent.
Nothing heard from the auto parts, nursing home, day care folks either.. All silent.
Nothing from Glenville State College professors, employees, or students. You mostly know what is happening. Everyone should be admitting this to themselves. We all know we can’t sit back and wait for the other person. Nothing will happen. All silent.
Where are the Marthas and Marys? Where are the Red Hat Ladies? Quilt and sewing groups? I know the CEO’s all have a good idea what is taking place too. I hear some talking about it. All silent.
Cowards are silent. Brave, caring, community minded people speak up. People who care for their community and their family, their children, their grandchildren, speak up. Have you? Are you? Silent?
Look deep into your heart and see who you are. How do you want others to see you? How do you want your children and grandchildren to see and remember you? What impression do you want to leave?
How do you grade yourself ? Coward or caring?
‘Silent’ or ‘Heard’ ? It’s all up to you. YOU are the ONLY ONE who decides.
Put your fears away and be heard or go to bed a coward for the rest of your life.
You can fail your community, your family….or you can help be part of the repair process.
We are all either part of the problem or part of the solution.
YOU MAKE THAT CHOICE !

What a shame when we have to read the WESTON DEMOCRAT to get the information from Lewis County Board of Education about the new school that Gilmer County taxpayers have had NO say in. But I guess we should not be surprised since we were not told by this Superintendent or any other BOE member any other important information concerning our school system. I’m glad Lewis County is excited for I don’t think to many in Gilmer County share that excitment.
Dr. Joseph Mace, School Superintendent for Lewis County said the Lewis Co. Board of Education members were very excited about the news that the SBA had voted to fund the new Lewis-Gilmer Elementary School at Linn. Dr. Mace announced that property that was suitable for the new school had been found at Linn for the price of $335,000. Half of the cost of the property will be Gilmers responsibility, so each will pay $167,500. Dr. Mace stated that In a previous meeting the board had approved to pay for the site evaluation, engineering costs and other preliminary costa associated with building the new school.
Look on page 6B there is a legal ad in this weeks Glenville Democrat for Schedule of Proposed Levy Rates Gilmer County Board of Education for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2013? Signed this 19th day of March 2012 by Ronald Blankenship. Oh ya,at the bottom it states The Gilmer County Board of Education will hold a PUBLIC hearing concerning the proposed 2012-2013 budget on Monday May 21, 2012 at 5:30 PM at the Gilmer County High School. I’m surprised it is open to the public.

We must remember that when anyone says the Gilmer County BOE approved anything since July 1, 2011 it is not true. It is Ron Blankenship speaking and signing for the BOE. Our Board has no authority and receives no information. Mr. B and the State Board signed the contract to pay Lewis County. Even the Budget was done through Mr. B and the state. No BOE member participated. This public hearing will be a sham to sign and seal it and is one of the few orders of law that has been followed. Do you think the public will be given a copy to question anymore than they received the CEFP? Don’t fall for this. Ask your BOE rep.

Democracy is:
1. government by the people or their elected representatives
2. a political or social unit governed ultimately by all its members
3. the practice or spirit of social equality
4. a social condition of classlessness and equality
5. the common people, esp as a political force
Fascism is:
1. a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc.
Which one do we have?

I read that “Dr. Mace announced that property that was suitable for the new school had been found at Linn for the price of $335,000.“
Can we know how many acres are involved and how did they come to that figure of $335,000? Sounds pretty excessive to me..

We have lost half of our population in the last 10 years. Don’t think the way things have been handled is working out very well for us. We’ve seen multiple High Schools taken down to one. Now we have to watch our last four elementary schools go the same way. We have to deal with reality, not day dreams.

Let’s keep following the people at that Big White House and their consorts who keep on leading us down their hand picked political prim rose path. That’s really served us so well. The last one to leaves Gilmer County can put out the cat and turn off the lights.
Comment by No More Secrecy on 04.27.2012
Why are we failing? Easy. No new thinking allowed. Keep it the same. If it starts out new get some trusted old guard in there to make sure and bring it back in line. Can’t have anything done different it just wouldn’t be the same! Can’t break the spirits of the worker bees that way.

Hey, their kids got all the perks, honors, scholarships and advertisement they need. They’ll do just fine. By the time the new school is open they won’t even have one in a Gilmer County school. Watch and see. All you Wannabees will find out none of it will happen for you. The plan was always to keep you placated til they had all they needed. You are disposable, even Sand Fork.
As far as Jones goes, sure he was paid the whole time. Is the city going to him back too?

OUR population is dropped due to lack of jobs and corruption. Our representatives that get paid to solicit new business in our county don’t do there job. When i ran for county commission i talked to a few representatives from other counties. They told me it was no secret, we have nobody in our county trying or soliciting new business for us. I am sure someone gets paid in this county to do this job. But who is it. And the Golden GOOSE on the county commission that was elected has not laid to many eggs far as i can see.

I don’t think its cool to lie about your education when so many of us worked hard to get ours. THE MORE I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THIS THE MADDER I AM GETTING THIS CAN’T BE FAIR TO US. I wonder how many people has suffered due to this deception just in GILMER COUNTY we will never know. What about the people who worked and slaved to get their education. I know how i got mine. DECEPTION DECEPTION DECEPTION. The ELITE thinks its OK they can PUPPETIZE it and then you know who pulls them STRINGS.

To all citizens of Gilmer County
Reading all of the comments on crimes, corruption, dishonesty, rapes (5 the last count I had) at GSC by black football players which were not properly investigated/reported and remain unsolved, uncharged and covered up by GSC and local law officers, dirty politics, lies involving qualifications/education for filing for a office, stealing, drugs, unsolved murders, a Prosecutor who will not/cannot do his job a state appointed Superintendent of Schools for Gilmer County who thinks he’s good, GCHS principal who should have been fired a long time ago and who believes drinking, drugs, sex is normal teenagers and who WILL NOT do anything about bullying other students, a teacher charged with giving alcohol to a minor in a motel room out of town, a volleyball coach, her boyfriend and her father, (our sheriff) allowing drinking, drugs and inappropriate sexual misconduct, her father helping coach the teams when he was not and has not been qualified to do so, a teacher at GCHS having pictures taken with a student with FFA float and showing FFA symbol and having alcohol bottles lined up for all to see, students being bullied, punished, and harassed by some students and faculty, Lewis and Gilmer County consolidated and shut down Troy and probably Sand Fork, all the corruption at the Court House, a Law Firm that covers up crimes and criminal behavior, (who by the way is a husband and brother-in-law to the GCHS principal),a weekly newspaper who will only publish the good news of the County and this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Now for some positive news for Gilmer County citizens: SUMMER IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER
Comment by ANONYMOUS on 04.29.2012
This past week the Weston newspaper reported that approximately $165,000 of Gilmer County’s money will be given for the new Gilmer/Lewis County school at Linn. Who authorized that money and why has the School Board not informed Gilmer’s citizens of the details? County Commissioners, where are you on this one?
Comment by Citizens Deserve To Know on 04.29.2012
Just want abusers of the public trust to know:
We don’t need to bring back the good name of Gilmer County, We need people willing to live up to it!
Comment by Proud To Be Here on 04.29.2012
Superintendent Blankenship, same one who was superintendent years ago, who did not have his contract renewed back then, does NOT have open communication with our elected board.
He is just following the States order from Jorea Marple, family friend of the Butcher clan, and getting even at the same time.
Its been reported here that Nastyia mother and Marple are best friends. Does that have anything to do with the fact that Nastyia still has her iron fist control?
Enjoy it high school workers. You are doing nothing to change it.

TO PROUD TO BE HERE:
Gilmer County USED to be a good decent county to live, work, shop, educate our children in. But due to a select few “elites” this is no longer true.
The old saying “Money talks” is certainly true in this county and state.
These elites have destroyed what Gilmer County stood for by their selfish acts of control and corruptness. How do they lay down and sleep at night knowing what they have done? I am glad you can say you are “Proud to be here” for I don’t think very many Gilmer County people feel that way any more. I sure don’t. I am ashamed of what they have done to our county.
TO CITIZENS NEED TO KNOW:
Read the above comment, it tells it all why we were not informed. The “elites” made the school take over possible thru “Money talks” once again, They are all connected from county to state in this corruptness. It’s not the little guys like you and me they care about, it is “THEIR GUYS” they care about. Well I will remember “all the guys” when it come to election day believe me and hope the rest of Gilmer County voters feel the same. It is time to make that change.

When the state takes over a school system and replaces the elected officials with one person (Blankenship) and he is making decisions without the support of the county is communism.
The voters will never support this deal at Linn and this should be supported by a county wide election.
This deal with Blankenship has effected our businesses and future growth in the county.
Rockefeller has never been in a public school so do not expect any support from him or Manchin.
