Rondel (Ron) Curtis Miller

of Normantown, WV surrounded by family, went home to Glenna and their Lord on December 11, 2014 following an unexpected illness at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center.

Ron was born September 11, 1930 in Shock, WV, a son of the late Ray and Pearl (Vanhorn) Miller.

He is survived by, was well-loved by, and will be sadly missed by surviving family. His and Glenna’s children, Shirley J. Dawson of Greenwood, SC; Debbie S. Harris of Shock, WV; Karen M. (Eugene) Queen of Lockney, WV and Randy R. Miller of Normantown, WV; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ron had a special and strong love for his beloved siblings and is survived by Herma Eddy of Belpre, OH; George (Kate) Miller of Stumptown, WV; Dorma Hartshorn of Grantsville, WV and Willard (Carolyn) of Garrettsville, OH.

The family would like to recognize and share our heartfelt appreciation to Ron’s granddaughter (Roger and Debbie’s daughter) Lydia Harris. Lydia moved from Ohio to be Ron’s main caregiver and companion for 4 years after Glenna passed. The family doesn’t know what they would have done without her.

In addition to his wife, Glenna, of 55 years, and his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brother Charles Miller, his son-in-law Roger Harris, granddaughter Megan Blanche Queen and twin grandsons Dean and Keith Dawson.

Ron retired in 1973 as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force after 22 years. He then returned to his college studies and graduated from Glenville State College with a teaching degree. So that he could spend more time gathering family histories for his family and many others, he drove school bus for Gilmer County for 22 years and retired from the Board of Education. He was instrumental in the collection of genealogy data in the publishing of the Gilmer County West Virginia History 1845-1989.

Ron and Glenna were known throughout the County as people who were willing to help anyone in need. They enjoyed bowling in the Glenville State College League, served as volunteer EMTs in Gilmer County and were involved in various activities and functions. Ron served many years as an active member of the Gilmer County Historical Society.

He was a member of the Shock Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg, WV.

Ministers Vernon Kerns and Gene Miller will officiate.

Interment will be in the Collins Community Cemetery in Stumptown.

Friends and family may call at Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg from 4 to 7 PM on Saturday, December 20, 2014 and one hour prior to the services in Arnoldsburg on Sunday.

Age 72, of Pilot Mountain, NC, formerly of Grantsville, WV, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ July 02, 2014 at Forsythe Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

She was born May 03, 1942, in Calhoun County, WV, a daughter of the late Walter and Olive Stemple Husk.

She was a Christian by faith.

She was a loving mother and homemaker.

Ruby was a member of the Message of the Hour Fellowship Church in Westfield, NC.

She is survived by her son Arland “Pete” (Stacey) Hardman of Pilot Mountain; three sisters, Sylvia West, Charlene Jett and Carolyn Husk, all of Ohio; three brothers, Orville Husk, Melvin Husk and Marvin Husk, all of Ohio; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband Buddy Hardman; a son Richard Hardman; and a daughter Sandra Harris.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 07, 2014, 2:00 PM at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville with Arland Hardman officiating.

Burial will follow in the Turner Cemetery at Lockney, WV.

Friends may call from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service.

Ronald Dean Brannon

Age 75, of South Amherst, OH, entered eternal rest on Saturday May 31, 2014 at Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin, OH following a long illness.

Dean was born on February 01, 1939 in Withers, WV and was a resident of South Amherst after moving from Grafton, WV area.

He attended the Middle Run School and the Eliam Baptist Church in Gilmer County, WV.

Dean loved sharing time with family and friends and as a young man often traveled between Ohio and West Virginia.

He enjoyed the outdoors and was an accomplished fisherman. Fishing was his greatest pastime when he wasn’t enjoying other sports. He was an avid fan and a team sports enthusiast. He enjoyed motor sports as well which included NASCAR and tractor pulling.

His hobbies included working puzzles and reading western novels. He liked attending local fairs and festivals.

Survivors include his sister Karen D. Arcaba and her husband Chet of South Amherst, OH, and sister Debra L. Harrison of Fredericktown, OH, his brother Rickie L. Brannon and his wife Wilma of Parkersburg, WV, many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Harry L. Brannon and Ruby G. Conrad (nee Godfrey); stepfather James R. Conrad; brother Roger A. Brannon and sister Sharon L. Brannon.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Welcome Nursing Home for the exemplary care they provided to Dean and his family.

Funeral services will be held Friday June 06, 2014, 3:00 PM at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville, WV.

Burial will follow in the Turner-Union Cemetery in Lockney.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00-3:00 PM prior to the services.

Hazel V. Resar (nee Ash)

Age 88, of LaGrange, OH, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 03, 2013.

Hazel was born in Lockney, WV, and was a 1943 graduate of Normantown High School.

She was employed at Inservco in LaGrange, OH for many years before her retirement.

Hazel was a member of the First Baptist Church of LaGrange.

She is survived by her children, Marcia Resar, Joseph Resar and Martha Resar, all of LaGrange, OH; she is also survived by her grand-daughter, Amanda Rundle; Great-grandson, Jordan Newson; sister, Mary Moore of Columbia Station, OH; and sister-in-law, Kate Ash of Jane Lew.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Marcellus (Bud) Resar in 1982, sister, Zethra (Tiny) Mohr, brother, Guy H. Ash, her parents, Guy and Losie Ash.

A memorial service was held Saturday, December 07, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the First Baptist Church of LaGrange, 200 Church Street, LaGrange, OH, Pastor Noel Hack officiated.

Private burial was in the River Road Cemetery, LaGrange Township.

Blackburn-Duke Funeral Home, 1021 Main Street, Grafton, OH, handled the arrangements.

Jimmy Dale Yeager

Age 59, of Grantsville, WV, passed away at the Louis A. Johnson Veterans Hospital in Clarksburg November 03, 2013.

He was born in Elyria, Ohio, December 30, 1953, a son of the late William Granville and Sharon Giar Yeager.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a Commander at the Grantsville VFW Post 5959.

He is survived by finance Shirley Richards; one son Andre Yeager; two daughters, Cheryl Roman and Meryam Chumley; one brother, William Yeager of Parkersburg WV; two sisters, Sherrie Hardman and April Tubbs.

He is preceded in death, in addition to his parents by sons Jimmy and Darren Yeager; grandparents Ottie and Kizzie Yeager and Leo and Geneva Giar.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday November 16, 2013 at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville with Rev. Bob Yoak officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the services.

At his request, Jimmy was cremated.

His remains will be scattered by family at the Yeager-Westfall Cemetery on Lower Run, Lockney following the services.

Bobby James Lane

of Elyria, OH passed away September 23, 2013.

He was born February 25, 1948 to James and Ina Lane in Lockney, WV.

Bob and his wife, Rosemary, had planned on moving to West Salem, OH in the near future.

He enjoyed mechanical work, riding his Harley, and spending time with his grandchildren. Bobby will always be remembered for his quick wit, kind words, and willingness to help anyone.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rosemary; son, James of Elyria, OH; daughter, Angela (Jeff) Rea of West Salem, OH; granddaughters Jocelyn and Olivia Rea and grandson, Gabe Connelly; sister Leanora (Dayton) Duelley of Wellington, OH; and sisters-in-law Jean Wynieski of Grafton, OH and Sue Lawson of Lagrange, OH and brother-in-law Tony Wynieski of Elyria, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.

Services were at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery on Saturday, October 05, at 11:00 AM.

The family asked that everyone wear flannel or Harley shirts!

Bobby Gene Roberts

Age 82, WV Hwy 5 West, Glenville, (Lower Cedar Creek Community), departed this life on Wednesday, October 22, 2013 at his residence, surrounded by family and friends following an extended illness.

Born February 25, 1931 in Pike County, Kentucky, son of the late Sam and Madge Bell Roberts.

Bobby Gene was a farmer all his life, he also had a sawmill, and timber service.  He retired from the WV Department of Agriculture, in the Animal Health Division, with 23 1/2 years of service, and ran the Roberts Riding Stable for over 10 years. Bobby Gene loved to play music and played at the West Virginia Folk Festival for over 40 years.

He was also a Methodist by faith.

On October 30, 1993 he was united in marriage to Ruth Barnett, who survives at their WV Hwy 5 home.

Surviving are 2 sons, Jeff Roberts and wife Robin of Glenville, WV; and Carl Roberts of Glenville, WV; 3 step-daughters, Jeanne Richards and husband Earnest of Lockney, WV;  Jenny Starcher of Glenville, WV; and Barbara Smith of Glenville, WV; and 2 brothers, Reggie Roberts and wife Rose of Glenville, WV; and John Paul Roberts and wife Doris “Mug” of Glenville, WV. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Bobby Gene was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Madge Bell Roberts.

Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc. 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV 26351 at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 26, 2013 with Rev. Joe Sealey and Rev. Phil Wilson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Pisgah Cemetery, WV Hwy 5 west of Glenville at the mouth of Holts Run Road.

Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 Friday at the Mortuary.

Ellyson Mortuary Inc. is assisting the family of Bobby Gene Roberts with arrangements.
