Another round of heavy storms expected Tuesday night

The National Weather Service put counties along the U.S. Route 50 corridor from Parkersburg to near Clarksburg under a flood warning Tuesday afternoon following thunderstorms that were producing heavy rain.

Forecasters said more than one inch of rain had fallen in some areas by 2:30 p.m. with localized higher amounts. More rain was expected in the warned areas.

The flood warnings impacted Wood, Pleasants, Ritchie, Doddridge, Wirt, Monongalia, Wetzel, Marshall and Marion counties. Flood advisories were posted for Hancock, Brooke and Ohio counties.

A flash flood warning was posted for the Ohio counties across the Ohio River from Parkersburg.

Meteorologists have forecasted another line of storms to move across West Virginia late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
