West Virginia Outdoor Burning Ban Remains
The statewide outdoor burning ban entered by Governor Earl Ray Tomblin late last week remains in effect.
It will be in effect until the end of the state of emergency.
The dry conditions and excessive heat we’ve been dealing with have created conditions ripe for forest fires.
And with most emergency personnel busy with storm clean-up, Governor Tomblin issued the ban last week as a precaution.
There is one exception to the burning ban.
If you need to start a campfire for cooking purposes, absolutely you may do that.
No significant fires have been reported.
What are needed are a couple days of steady showers to help rehydrate the ground to where forest fires are not a concern.
