The President and CEO for the West Virginia University Alumni Association says he expects thousands of Mountaineer fans to be in Austin, Texas when WVU takes on the University of Texas Longhorns this fall.

“I can’t tell you how many West Virginians have told me they’re going to the game,“ Steve Douglas said on Tuesday’s MetroNews Talkline.  “They’re probably going to need 30,000 tickets because I think 30,000 people told me they’re going to go to Austin.“

To help fans make the trip, those with WVU’s Alumni Association and the Mountaineer Athletic Club have put together a travel package.

It includes a game ticket, round trip chartered air service from Clarksburg to Austin, airport transfers and two nights at the Radisson Hotel and Suites Downtown which will be WVU’s team hotel.

The flight would leave October 05, 2012 and return October 07, 2012.

Game Day is October 06, 2012.

A kickoff time has not yet been scheduled.

Douglas says he expects the travel package to be popular.  “I think it will be a sell out in a matter of days, if not even sooner,“ he said.

“I think it will be a great time.  It will be one of those trips on the bucket list where Mountaineer fans probably will want to go at least one time in their lifetime.  So why not do it Year One?“

You can register for the Austin travel package by calling 1.888.373.5067 or by going to www.wvusportstravel.com.
