Mildred “Granny” Smith
Age 90, of Big Bend, WV, passed away March 05, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Parkersburg.
She was born at Little Creek WV, a daughter of the late Harry and Dorris Smith Shrader.
Surviving are two daughters, Lenor Jones of Big Bend and Charlotte Smith of Valley View TX; one sister, Geraldine (Charles M.) Hall of Parkersburg; 8 grandchildren, Robert Frederick, Melissa Hixon, Timothy Dickson, Janet Hardway, Heather Dickson, Aaron Dickson, Rebecca Keener and Brandy Barr; 10 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren; 2 very special loving sons-in-law, Dennis Dickson of Big Bend and Lester Dickson of Valley View TX; several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Smith served as a cook and janitor at both former Brooksville schools. She was a former employee of Rubber Fabricators of Grantsville, and later retired from BF Goodrich.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Smith; one son, Harold (Bud) Smith; a son-in-law, Denzil (Pete) Jones; 4 brothers, Howard, Floyd, Dexter and Roy; four sisters, Leola, Vienna, Arizona and Ginneva; 2 half brothers, Harry and Sam; and half sisters, Dessil, Jessie, Margret, Jane and Mable.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, WV.
Interment will be in the Smith Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday.
