G-MM™: Meditation Moment - 08.18.12

‘Do not prevent the little children from coming to me: it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.’
Jesus revered children.
On more than one occasion, he held up children as living images of the divine and as first citizens of the kingdom.
To the church’s great shame, it hasn’t always followed this example of Christ.
The church is continually called to be a place where people, from the youngest to the oldest, find the blessing of Christ.
It is our baptismal vocation to embody the welcome and blessing of Christ, especially to those who are the most vulnerable and powerless, for it is in being open to the smallest in our society that we discover the kingdom of heaven.
How might l live as a ‘blessing of Christ’ for others this day?
Ezekiel 18:1–10, 13, 30–32. Create a clean heart in me, O God—Ps 50(51):12–15, 18–19. Matthew 19:13–15.
