John Michael “Mike” Peters

Age 53, was turned out to greener pastures just before sunrise on Friday morning, March 16, 2018 from his family farm on Sand Fork Road in Linn, WV.

On July 01, 1964 God looked down upon the earth and thought, “They need another farmer, a caretaker of the land.” So he sent a son to Earl Cleo Peters of Glenville and the late Lena Elizabeth Persinger Peters, who raised him to fulfill that role.

On June 03, 1988 he married Tonya Renee Riffle, who will dearly miss him and his witty storytelling after 29 years of marriage. She feels confident that Mike is now cruising through Heaven’s beautiful countryside in an old ’55 Chevy truck with an ice cream cone in his hand, and a big smile on his face.

His strong, loving nature will be part of a legacy that he leaves behind for his five children: John “Jay” Michael Peters II of Stumptown, WV; Duston “Dusty” Peters (Jennifer) of Stumptown, Allyson Lewis (Brady) of Burnsville, WV; Jordyn Peters of Burnsville, and Dalton Peters of Linn, WV; three siblings: Kenny Peters (Jenny) of Weston, WV; Steve Peters (Janie) of Weston, and Dave Peters of Glenville; WV; three grandchildren: Haden, Jaylyn, and Jesalynn; mother-in-law, Darlena Riffle; brother-in-law, Jim Gaskins and wife, Peggy, of Hampton, VA; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend, loyal companion, traveling sidekick, and beloved border collie, Teddy, who will especially miss helping Mike with feeding the livestock, and taking rides with him in his truck.

Mike worked for Spaur Brothers Construction for several years before becoming self-employed and devoting more time to farming. In his free time, this hard-working farmer enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, canning, visiting the French Creek Game Farm, taking car rides through the country, and four-wheeling. He was very proud of earning his American FFA Degree and remained actively involved in FFA activities. As a 20-year 4-H Leader and President of the WV Charolais Association, he also enjoyed attending livestock shows, and every kind of auction he could find, looking for a great deal.

Friends and family will gather at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Road in Jane Lew from 4-8 PM on Tuesday, March 20, 2018.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Groves officiating.

Interment will follow in the Rock Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to assist his youngest son, Dalton Peters c/o Calhoun Bank 904 N Lewis Street, Glenville, WV 26351.

The Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored and privileged to serve the family of John Michael “Mike” Peters.
