Braxton County: BCDA is Expanding and Creating a World of Oppotunities

The Braxton County Development Authority is opening the door to what they hope is a world of opportunity.

A company is set to move in here on the second floor of the Braxton Technology Group building, joining the first tenant who has no regrets making the move to the Flatwoods area.

Also located in the building is the Central West Virginia Innovator that opened in July of last year. It’s a business incubator designed to support the growth and development of the technology sector in this part of the state.

“From the basis of how to write a business plan to how to run a budget to right up to building overseeing a web site,“ says John Jordan, Chairman of the Braxton County Development Authority.

Now the Development Authority has started the process of building another building.

The current structure is for technology-based companies. The next one will be more diversified.

“In order to attract other businesses, we felt we needed to do another building to make that attraction available. Nobody seems to be doing that locally,“ says Jordan.

With current technology, county leaders are hoping more companies see the benefits of a rural country location.

The Braxton County Development Authority has hired an architect to start designing the new building. In the coming months the group will start applying for grants to build the structure, but believe it may take two year before they break ground on the building.
