Chicago native Patrick “Deep Dish” Bertoletti won the second annual Major League Eating (MLE) Pepperoni Roll Contest at the Three Rivers Festival in Fairmont. He ate a world record 33 pepperoni rolls in ten minutes.

The Chicago native also won last year’s contest eating 30.5 pepperoni rolls in 10 minutes. This year’s field was comprised of 11 professional eaters and one local competitor from Morgantown. Bertoletti says it was different training for a pepperoni roll eating competition.

“I ate 12 pounds of food two days ago and did not eat anything yesterday, physically and mentally I came into today hungry and ready to win,” Bertoletti said.

Bertoletti is the second ranked eater in the world, behind Nathan’s Hot Dog competition winner Joey Chestnut and took home $2,500 for first place. The rest of the Top Five finishers were Tim “Eater X” Janus, Adrian Morgan, Sonya Thomas and Bob Shoudt.
