Experts: Cut, Documentation Key in Buying Engagement Diamond

The Gilmer Free Press

Beyond4Cs.com, a trusted site for consumers to do research and get help in buying diamond engagement rings, posted the results of a recent survey performed by 41 industry experts. This survey sheds light on how professionals in the jewelry trade approach diamond buying from the perspective of being a consumer themselves.

For the general public and first time shoppers, this survey presents a rare opportunity to get insights in diamond buying; a process that is often overwhelming and confusing to the layman.

Commenting on the results of the expert roundup, Paul Gian the founder of Beyond4Cs.com said, “Cut was by far the most important factor that the experts consider when purchasing a diamond. However, it is no coincidence that more than half of the respondents list cut as a top priority. This is because cut is really what determines the sparkle and brilliance of the diamond.“

He further added, “Following cut, the importance of a reliable grading report came in as the 2nd biggest factor. This may come as a surprise to many people because it is the experts themselves who are asking for a report now.

Mind you, these are people who either had years of experience or have the ability to grade diamonds themselves. Yet, many would refuse to buy a diamond in a store without the proper documentations and that’s something worth to bear in mind for shoppers.“

Paul Gian also said, “The tables have really turned this time. Besides cut and grading report, there are many other factors that the experts had listed as being important to them. Through this survey, consumers can get a better understanding into the thought process of professionals and hopefully, apply some of this knowledge towards their own purchase.“
