G-Vine™: Heard It Through G-Vine – 05.25.13

Community talk heard through the G-Vine:
• An 8th grader at Gilmer County High School had to be taken by ambulance on Thursday, May 23, 2013 because he passed out in the office after taking drugs. Reportedly he came to school high and then put controlled pills in Red Bull and drank it.
• The 8th grader who should not be in school comes to school high and the system is not doing anything to help him.
• Speaking of bulling at GCHS, this student is a big bully. To solve the bullying problem, he used to be taken out of class and let to clean the classrooms. But the cleaning stopped because of items missing in classrooms.
• The 8th grader passed out in office and neither principal nor assistant principle were present.
• This kid terrorizes the classroom on purpose. Why doesn’t anyone do anything to help him?
• This 8th grader needs help and should not be in school.

Community talk heard through the G-Vine:
Questions arise regarding the sudden and unexpected resignation of Mayor Tashua Allman-Duval:
• Is it true that the Mayor has not been at City Hall or able to be reached by phone during the past three weeks while her mail remains unopened.
• Is it true that immediately prior to this the Mayor’s home furnishings were offered for sale on Facebook?
• Is it true the Allman-Duvall’s have not been seen at their home for at several weeks?
• Will the Mayor attend the final City Council meeting of her term in June?
• Is it true that no Council person or Employee of City Hall was aware of the resignation before the letter on the GFP?
• Why would the Mayor resign after the ballot was printed and after the time anyone could file for that office even as a write-in?
• Was the Mayor’s resignation a political ploy to insure election of one remaining Candidate?
• Could the timing of this resignation be a coincidence or a product of the same old game of political gain which has caused so much voter apathy in Gilmer County?
• Is it true the GSC Baseball Coach Gilbert got fired because he wouldn’t play the politics game?
• Is it true the WV State Police had to use dogs to search the Gilmer County High School all night Sunday due to pipe bomb threat on Facebook?

If I had a dollar for every person that said they don’t vote anymore because “it doesn’t matter what you vote for, they do what they want anyway”, my cruise to Greece would be paid for.
Wish no bad on the ex-Mayor but given how business is done around here it’s too much of a coincidence.
Last election was what, 15 or 16 votes all together?
No doubt the family will be all that votes this time.
By Too Bad on 05.22.2013
For those four years the City got to pay a higher salary for Mayor and went from a part time to a full time secretarial position. The City doesn’t own the Park where we’re not allowed to sit and eat lunch on a bench. City taxpayers got a bill to remodel the Mayor’s office, We still have crumbling sidewalks, no street paving, collapsing water, sewer and drain lines, a failing treatment plant that badly needs an upgrade along with higher water and sewer bills. We paid the highest tax rate in the county for a couple of parties and 2 dogs to feed and vet. No infrastructure improvements and absolutely no maintenance. We did learn the Mayor likes to party.
According to three Council members and the main office it’s all true. Knowing all this it’s real easy to believe they got rid of one more that won’t play ball for the politicos at the High School.
By Is This Really the Gilmer County Way on 05.22.2013
The city council is also at fault for letting the mayor be more interested in her secret affairs of throwing sex toys parties rather than taking care of the city.

Take a look at our city, filthy with trash everywhere, weeds growing on the streets, filthy roads, you name it….
By sydni Q on 05.22.2013
Mayor Allman must have influenced the college to keep all the flowerbeds on campus, once pretty, trashy looking and full of weeds as well. Just go and take a look. what do you say Tommy and Tim?
By on campus everyday on 05.22.2013
People. Voters. This is your fault!
You elect an young, immature person to office what do you expect!?
You elect Kennedy, Ramsey and Chapman!?
You all know them. You got exactly what you voted for!?
Don’t claim “surprise” !?
We know the County treasury is empty!?
Is the town treasury empty too!?
By you get the government you deserve on 05.23.2013
The mayor works at Glenville College. Maybe she can be reached there or at her massage business on Main Street for some clarification of this issue?
By anonymous on 05.23.2013
There can be no question Tashua you read GFP. Tashua, can you further explain what is happening? You owe those of us who have supported you, a better explanation. We trusted you.
By waiting on 05.23.2013
I think that the mayor has done a great job the past 4 years. Alot of people don’t appreciate what she has done, then you have others getting into her business which has nothing to do with anyone but the mayor. I want to thank her for all she has done. Some people need to mind their own business!!!
By anonymous on 05.24.2013
she is not resigning she is choosing not to serve another term. resigning would mean she is quitting now. she will finish her term. the reason she is leaving is personal and peopel should respect her privacy. if you knew she was not wanting to do another term for medical reasons or extreme illness would you continue to say these things about her?
instead of slamming the Mayor, what you should really be worried about is the other candidate. anyone know why he no longer works at the conrad motel or glenville college? you best be worried about the city’s funds if he is the mayor, just sayin!!!
By anonymous on 05.24.2013
When you say “Mayors business” that means “Public business”. Ask any elected official. That’s what happens when you get in office. It’s part of the deal with the people who vote for you. Your life becomes an open book.
Some people need to remember that.
By Like Has Nothing to do With It on 05.24.2013
These G-Vine comments are interesting. They even bring some questions to mind as well.
“TO Anonymous” I really did not see any comments that actually attacked or criticized the works of resigned Mayor Allman. It appears the general theme of comments are as to her method of informing town council, rather not informing them. I would even bet that you, “anonymous” would agree this was somewhat of an unusual method of resignation.
Former Mayor Allman is an adult and is able to post comments here on the Free Press I’m sure. She could possibly explain herself better, if she so desires.
By will she? on 05.24.2013
So City Park is mentioned here. What is going on with the park? We have been led to believe that FRN was to oversee construction and then the park would be transferred to the Town of Glenville. Has that happened? I’ve seen nothing in the paper or on GFP to indicate that it has. Something funny is going on here for sure. When you see who is on the FRN board and also on/running for town council, bet you all that the Park will be given, taken, grabbed by Glenville State College before its over. Mayor Alman-Duval had indicated that she was looking forward to the town having the park.
By anonymously on 05.24.2013
Glenville has no choice now. The Mayor left us high and dry. You can’t just write in a name. Even a write in has to file to be legally elected. Throwing an unsigned letter at the public is insulting. And as a letter to the Editor in the newspaper saying what kind of candidate to vote for when there’s no choices on the ballot, just one name to vote for?

Did you hear that many pistol shots rang out at the new Glenville Sports Club Bar & Grille (Old Lion’s Lair) Saturday night?
Fight broke out; barmaid’s car had tire and window shot out and on her car (its parked there now)
The shooting continued on over into Brooklyn with the police calling backup and many arrests made.
They say it broke out between black & white in the bar, went out into parking lot black on black then they ran over to Brooklyn to let their friends there know trouble was coming.
Things are not getting any better around here in Glenville, is it?

Community talk heard through the G-Vine:
• Is it true about the new school they want to build in the Linn area that they want natural gas and Garretts refusing to give them a right away so they might have to re-design everything and make the school all electric?
• Was the site for the new school in Linn nothing but a swamp area and could this cause a lot of problems?
• THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS AT THE MICKEY METZ’S SHERIFF OFFICE WERE DUE TO BE IN THE PAPER BY SEPTEMBER 30TH. STILL NOT OUT! WHY?
• There is chatter about recent alleged sexual misconduct at the GCHS involving staff and students. Do you know if there is anything to it?
• Since Mickey Metz is leaving the office there should be a settlement report due December 31, 2012. Should it not?
• Commissioners Kennedy and Ramsey have failed to report the financial crisis and missing funds under Sheriff Metz’s role as the county treasurer? Why?
• The last day of school before Christmas, an english teacher at GCHS caught students in the back of her classroom using marijuana and reported them to the principal. What is the deal with that?
• It is horrible that examples of alleged misconduct at GCHS go unreported. That failure is enabling the individuals who could care the least about decency. What it will take is a parent or another individual in the know to rise up to file a formal complaint about the sexual misconducts at school. Have any complaints been filed? If administrators know about problems and they fail to act it is my belief that they could be held accountable similar to what happened at Penn State.

G-Vine™: Heard It Through G-Vine – 12.18.11

Community talk heard through the G-Vine:
• Doug Morris, Vice President of Waco Oil & Gas, was involved in an accident on Rt. 5.
• The accident was on route 5 about Gilmer-Calhoun line.
• It happened sometime Tuesday morning.
• Mr. Morris was taken to Minnie Hamilton and then flown to Ruby Memorial in Morgantown.
• If Deputy Ben Huffman was in charge at the time of the accident, then why did Sheriff Metz decide to take charge of the accident?
• His blood test showed evidence of five separate types of drugs.
• Why haven’t charges been filed by the Sheriff?
• I bet if any charge is filed, he is going to get out of it because of who he is.
• Doug was released from the hospital a day or two ago.
• Since Mr. Morris has a real problem with substance abuse isn’t it time to enforce the law and get him help?
• The entire community is abuzz about Doug Morris’ wreck last week. Why is there a news block out about it? Could it be that Gilmer’s handlers are engaged in another cover up? We hear that drugs were allegedly involved so why were charges for driving under the influence not issued? If a citizen who lacked money and political influence was involved in a similar incident the book would have been thrown at them. Mr. Metz, where do you stand on the issue? Nothing can be hidden from the people anymore because of informants at all levels, and when censorship is attempted failure is guaranteed.

Community talk heard through the G-Vine:
• The GSC Softball coach has been fired by GSC. He has been involved in repeated drinking and other inappropriate actions, some involving players. He was also involved in the auto accident at Vanhorn Drive which was covered up by the college and officials.
• What happened to the 911 trailer that was obtained through a grant? Was it given away illegally along with gallons of water, sheets, pillow cases and blankets or was the public mislead and told these items were stolen?
• Larry Porter’s compensation from GSC is not listed in the WV Government Report at all. Reports indicate he gets about $110,000.00 a year. Where from?
• Is the Gilmer County Volunteer Fire Department being forced to re-pay the State of WV over $150,000.00 before they can get anymore grant money because they bought building products from Hardman’s without asking for bids? Is this the main reason the fire department can’t get grant money from the state to finish their main fire house? Did anyone happen to tell the local news media that no bids were ever taken before items were purchased, and did a Gilmer County Commissioner mislead the Gilmer County citizens about this matter so Hardman’s could get the items without bidding on the items?
• Why is Rick Frame not being forced by the Gilmer County Commissioners to re-pay the money he owes for the property he now owns in the Gilmer County WV Industrial Park in Stouts Mill?
• Why didn’t the GSC officials have a public auction of the items inside the old GSC maintenance building instead of giving them away to employees and friends?
