Lady Pioneers Race Past the Wolves of Cheyney

The Glenville State Lady Pioneers went on the road Sunday afternoon and forced the University of Cheyney into 33 turnovers as they ran away with a 60 point victory, 112-52.

Glenville State (10-2) shot 49 percent from the floor and had five Lady Pioneers score in double figures. Cheyney (0-10) shot 31 percent from the field and had just two players in double figures.

After a close first quarter Glenville State held just a 10 point lead at, 24-14. However after the slow start the Lady Pioneers turned up the defensive pressure and outscored the Wolves in the second quarter by 20 at, 33-13. GSC held a 57-27 lead at intermission.

Glenville State then went on to outscore Cheyney 26-17 in the third. The would continue oitacoring 29-8 in the fourth in route to a 60 point win, 112-52.

Glenville State’s defense forced 33 turnovers and converted them into 59 points while outscoring the Wolves bench, 58-4. The Lady Pioneers scored 63 points in the paint and had 21 fast break points. Cheyney finished with 32 points on the inside and had only six fast break points.

Freshman Re’Shawna Stone scored a game-high 23 points while dishing out five assists. Emily Stoller poured in 22 points as she went 9-for-17 from the field and 4-of-9 from deep.

Donasja Scott chipped in with 13 points and nine rebounds while Courtney Davis scored 12 and pulled down seven boards. Zakiyah Winfield scored 10 points while coming away with six steals, dished out five assists, and pulled down five boards.

Glenville State had 12 different players score in the game.

Gianni Hill scored 21 points to lead the Wolves while Marlon Herring chipped in with 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Glenville State (10-2) will return to action on Thursday, January 10th when they travel to Notre Dame College for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off with the Falcons.
