Meditation Moment - HEAVEN

Revelation 21

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.  I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.  John gets to take a look into heaven, then he describes it to us.  He said the Holy City is like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. The feeling is when you see a bride walking down the isle you are seeing the purest beauty the world can boast.

John also says, God will wipe away our tears.  When you think of a place where there will be no reason to cry, ever, doesn’t it make you want to go there?

There will be no more death.  Can you imagine no more funerals and no more cemeteries.  The hardest thing in this world is to say good-bye, but those words will never be spoken in heaven.

In verses 11 thru 22 he describes what heaven will look like in a way we can understand.  He mentions the foundation, the size, the walls, gates, precious stones, streets as pure gold.  He said there will be no need for the sun or moon, there will be no night.  Nothing impure or no one who does bad things will be there.

That is a wonderful place to look forward to.  We can spend eternity there if we have prepared for our journey while here on earth.  We must have secured the companionship of the Lord by obeying him. We can do that by hearing the word and believing it, repenting of our sins, confessing Christ and being baptized into his death to walk in a new life. (Rom ch. 6)  “Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.” (Rev. 2:10)
