McKinley Meets with Elk Garden Mayor and Town Council

This week was the 4th of July District work period. We had a great meeting with the Elk Garden Mayor and Town Council. There was a lot of good discussion on efforts to combat the opioid epidemic and the potential benefits from the Jennings Randolph Hydropower project.

McKinley Round Table with First Responders

During this week’s District work period, we had a great round table with Elk Garden emergency services professionals where we discussed the struggle to recruit new volunteer firefighters, providing incentives to attract new volunteers, and the 41st anniversary of the firefighters’ carnival, which raises critical funds to purchase new equipment.

McKinley Round Table with Cortland Acres

We finished the District work week with a round table at Cortland Acres in Tucker County. We had a great discussion on how to help independently owned and operated nursing homes stay in business, Cortland Acres’ efforts to address all of Tucker County’s healthcare needs, the possibility of building a new substance abuse treatment center, and the need to expand broadband access to facilitate the use of telemedicine.
