Ruth Ann Hefner

Age 75, of Town Run Road, Weston, West Virginia, left this earth and has updated her address to the Graceland in the sky and is now reunited with the love of her life Oras “Buck” Hefner, whom she married on September 16, 1964. Ruth Ann passed away on Tuesday, July 10, in the early hours of the morning at the Crestview Nursing Home of Jane Lew, following extended health issues.

Ruth Ann is proceeded in death, by her first husband Don Brockleman, her late husband Oras “Buck” Hefner who left this earth on May 29, 1996, her son Franky, and her daughter Janice Diane Goldsmith. She is also proceeded in death by her long-lived white poodle Heidi who followed Ruth Ann around the house and was her companion for almost 20 years.

She is survived by her daughter Sherri Moneypenny of Weston, WV; and sons Mike Hefner of Weston and Rick Hefner and wife, Teresa, of North Carolina, sons-in-law Roger Goldsmith and Richard Moneypenny; her grandchildren: Alli Clark (Ed) of Jane Lew, WV; Teaira Meadows and husband, Christopher, of Jane Lew, Drew Hefner of Jane Lew, Jessica Hefner of Buckhannon, WV; and Josh Moneypenny of Weston. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren Emmitt Clark of Jane Lew, and Alec and Alayha Meadows of Jane Lew; and several siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews. Her beloved dog Blackie will also miss her dearly.

Ruth retired from Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital from the OB department after a long service to the babies and mother of Lewis County. Ruth was able to witness the birth and assist with the births of most of her grandchildren.

Ruth’s truest passions were her family, friends and the King of Rock ‘N Roll, Elvis. She collected Elvis paraphernalia throughout her life, even turning a room in her house into her Elvis shrine. She also collected cows and Native American statues and items.

Ruth enjoyed crocheting, coffee, cooking, and playing cards with her family for hours. In fact, most family gatherings were held at her home and the family members would gather around a table that she had for 20 plus years and break out the Rook cards or Yahtzee dice. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, Walker Texas Ranger, Hallmark movies, and Family Feud. Her favorite movie was Sweet Home Alabama and she watched it every time it was on the television. She was a strong, loving, caring, and humble woman. She knew anybody and everybody, and knew the genealogical lines of everyone in town and who married who. She was devoted to her grandchildren more than anything else. She always put their needs before anyone else’s and treasured the memories that she made with them always.

The family would like to thank the staff at Crestview Manor for their compassionate care.

Friends and family will gather at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Road in Jane Lew from 4-7 PM on Saturday, July 14, 2018.
