Iona Lee Arbogast

Age 84, of Star City, WV passed away on Sunday November 04, 2018 at the Grandview Estates, Elizabeth, PA.

Iona was born in Gilmer County, WV on May 29, 1934 daughter to the late Leslie and Jessie Swiger Stout.

Iona had a zest for life and was always on the move. While making her home in Parkersburg with her family, she was active with Meals on Wheels for nearly two decades. During that same time, she and her husband operated several service stations and she also managed to keep a home and raise six children.

She was very active with the Monongalia County Senior Center, loved to travel and rarely missed a bus trip sponsored by BOPARC. She was also an avid bowler and walked everyday in and around her neighborhood.

Miss Iona was a faithful member of the Sabraton Baptist Church, served on the American Baptist Women’s Ministry, the church choir and would cook and serve meals to the homeless of Monongalia County.

Iona also was a proud supporter of the fight against cancer. As an 11-year survivor herself, she participated in as many walks, runs, raffles, dinners or relays that she could. She was also very supportive of other survivors in ways we may never know.

Believe it or not, Miss Iona even found time to tend a garden. She loved time spent tilling the soil, cultivating the crop and appreciated the reward of God’s creation and harvest.

Iona is survived by two daughters; Terra Myers and husband David of Elizabeth, PA, Kimberly Pottmeyer and husband Rick of Simpsonville, SC; two sons, Randall Arbogast of Milton, FL, Kevin Arbogast and wife Becky of Parkersburg, WV; sister-in-law, Maxine Arbogast of Star City, WV; one sister Linda Downey of Fairmont, WV; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Arbogast; two sons, Larry Arbogast and Richard ‘Dennis’ Arbogast; one grandson Larry Joseph ‘Little Larry’; one granddaughter, Lani one brother and two sisters.

Family will receive friends at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Wednesday November 07, 2018 from 2 – 4 PM & 6 – 8 PM and again on Thursday from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM with Pastor Scott Whetzel officiating.
