David Robert “Bob” Newlon

Age 87 of Smithville, WV went to be with the Lord on November 05, 2018 at his residence.

He was born May 22, 1931 at Lawford, WV, the son of the late Walter and Ola Chloe Davis Newlon.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of Harris-Ritchie Post 3554 VFW.

Bob was a heavy equipment operator, oil and gas driller and Jack of All Trades. He was a former member of Lawford Chapel United Methodist Church and faithfully attended New Mt. Olive Church at Burnt House. He was a former member of Burnt House I.O.O.F. Lodge and he loved to hunt, ride four wheelers with his brothers and loved to help other people.

Mr. Newlon is survived by his wife Dorothy Elizabeth White Newlon; son, Douglas Charles Newlon (Debbie) of Macfarlan, WV; sisters, Viola Bunner of Morgan City, LA, and Cletha Bartlett of Auburn; brothers, Don K. Newlon of Ellenboro, WV; and Denver “Smokey” Newlon of Belpre, OH; grandchildren, Jeremy Newlon, Shawn Newlon (Missy); great-grandchildren, Bobby Newlon, Ian Newlon, Skylar Newlon and Isaac Newlon; and former wife and mother of his children, Ellen Wade.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Renita Ann Wadger; brothers, Roy Newlon and Denzil Newlon; sisters, Violet Cowan and Clareth Haddox; and two infants.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, November 08, 2018 at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville.

Burial will follow in the New Mt. Olive Cemetery, Burnt House, WV with military rites by Harris-Ritchie Post 3554 VFW.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-8.
