Letha “Shannon” Bailey

Age 80, of Ireland, WV, returned to Heaven on October 31, 2018 from the comfort of her home and surrounded by her family.

She was born on December 15, 1937 in Sand Run, WV, a daughter of Elmer and Alice Cidney Gibson McCartney.

Until his passing in 1997, Shannon was married to French Clay Bailey Jr.

Those who will miss Shannon most are one son, Clay Allen Bailey and wife, Diane, of Mt. Clare, WV; one daughter, Cheryl Annette Bowers and husband, Larry, of Spencer, WV; four grandchildren: Sean Bowers and wife, Carrie, Brandon Bowers, Megan Smith and Chelsea Bailey; two great-grandchildren: Annie and Gracie Smith; one sister, Karen Bleigh of Walkersville, WV; and two brothers: Gary McCartney of Greensburg, IN, and Freeman McCartney and wife, Kathy, of Lorraine, OH.

In addition to her parents and husband, Shannon was preceded in death by three sisters: Gwendolyn “Tootie” Rexroad, Charlotte Alice McCartney Haultman and infant Rochella McCartney; and one brother, Delmer McCartney.

She attended Elijah Chapel of United Methodist Church and Glenville Baptist Church. Shannon was a proud member of the Classy Ladies Red Hat Society. She loved to read and was a big fan of Amish fiction. She also liked to spend time working puzzles.

Shannon was well loved at Glenville State College where she spent 29 years cashiering in the cafeteria and concessions stand.

Family and Friends will gather at Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service located at 144 Hackers Creek Road in Jane Lew from 4-7 PM on Saturday, November 03, 2018.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday at 2 PM from the Pat Boyle Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dwayne Brown officiating.

Interment will follow at the Weston Masonic Cemetery in Weston.

The Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored and privileged to serve the family of Letha “Shannon” Bailey.
