Earl L. Stonestreet

Age 95 of Rootstown, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at his home.

He was born March 22, 1923, in Gassaway, West Virginia, to parents Letcher and Anna (Carroll) Stonestreet.

Earl proudly served his country during WWII as a member of the US Navy, and then worked at the Ravenna Arsenal for several years. He later retired from Wickes’ Lumber on April 1, 1988.

Earl was a dedicated member of New Testament Baptist Church and American Legion Post 331. He was a farmer who enjoyed his labor of love. The family raised cattle and Earl always had a vegetable garden. He was well known for his homemade fudge and honey, even winning several first place ribbons at the Portage County Randolph Fair.

Earl and his wife Aletha raised five children: David (Patricia) Stonestreet of Ravenna, Donald (deceased) (Janice) Stonestreet of Ft. Myers, Florida, Patricia (Ralph) Leggett of Rootstown, Mark Stonestreet of Rootstown, and Pamela (Mike) Taylor of Rootstown. Earl also leaves behind his loving 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and his sister Alma Boles of Charlestown.

Earl was preceded in death by his beloved wife Aletha (Boles) Stonestreet, his 6 sisters and his 2 brothers.

Friends and family will be received Saturday, March 02, 2019, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at New Testament Baptist Church, 3583 State Route 59, Ravenna, OH 44266, with a memorial service officiated by Pastor Bob Burgess at 12:00 PM.

Military Honors will be provided by the US Navy. A time of fellowship will follow.
