Doris “Geneva” Case

Age 85 of Stoneville, NC passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 at 3:00 AM after a short illness at Moorehead Memorial Hospital in Eden, NC.

Geneva was born June 05, 1933 at home on Tate Creek, Glendon of Braxton County, WV.

She was the youngest daughter of Herbert C. and Delta D. (Starcher) Case. She graduated Gassaway High School in 1950. She attended Akron University School of Nursing for two years when she decided she did not like surgery.

She married Ray A. Case June 22, 1959. They crisscrossed the US from Ohio to Arizona where in 1959 she work in a bank as an executive secretary. They moved to California where she was an executive secretary for many years to the Dean of Admissions for the University of California. She worked in the officer many years for the Wrigley Gum factory in Santa Cruz, CA.

Her son David was born May 07, 1967 and was the light of her world. She enjoyed all her “mom” activities, especially Den Mother to his Cub Scout Troop.

The family moved to Lexington, SC, then to Jordantown, TX for a few years. Then to Reidsville, NC and lastly to Stoneville, NC.

She retired in 1998 from NC Department of Health and Human Services. Geneva enjoyed arts & crafts, sewing, crochet, cross stitch, and gardening.

Geneva is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ray A. Case. She is also survived by her only child, David Ray (Kara) Case of Fort Knox, KY and two grandchildren, Megan (Adrian) Wance of Winston-Salem, NC and Eric Case of Dillon, Colorado. She is also survived by two siblings Amy Jean McCormick of Akron, OH and Jerry B. Case of Smithville, TX, and many adoring nieces, nephews, greats and great greats in Ohio, West Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Texas, and Alaska.

In addition to her parents, Geneva was preceded in death by her older brother Gordon Case of Georgia and sister Betty Hart of Brimfield, OH.

The family will hold a private service in her honor at her parent’s graveside in Sugar Creek Cemetery at a future time
