John Wesley McDonald

Age 96, of Harrisville, WV passed away June 10, 2018 at Meadowview manor, Bridgeport, WV.

He was born August 30, 1921 at Devil Hole, Ritchie County, WV, the son of the late Isaac Newton and Della May Henthorne McDonald.

He was a US Army Infantryman serving and wounded in Italy during WW II. He was awarded Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medals, American Theater European African Middle Eastern Service and WW II Victory Ribbons. He was a member of Harris-Ritchie Post 3554 VFW and Bethany United Methodist Church. He had worked for Goodyear Tire in Akron, OH. He loved horses, farming, babies and hunting as he killed his last deer in his 90’s.

He is survived by his children, John McDonald, Jr. (Terri) of Oak Hill, WV, Linda Snider (Don) of Harrisville, Barbara McDonald of Parkersburg, WV and Dustin McDonald of WV; fifteen grandchildren, John Wesley McDonald III, Robert Paul McDonald, Rocky John McDonald, Julia Marie McDonald, Kristi Lynn Harvey, Donald Mark Snider, Brian Todd Snider, Caleb McDonald, Madison McDonald and Samantha McDonald and five others; step-grandchild, John Snider; eight-great grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by first wife, Neva Marie McDonald and second wife, Susie Virginia McDonald; granddaughter, Susanna Lee McDonald; brothers, Asel, Hosea, Dennis, Isaac Jr., Marshall and Glendon McDonald; and sister Ernestine Gilkey.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville with Pastor Tim Davis officiating.

Burial will follow in the Harrisville, IOOF Cemetery with military rites by Harris-Ritchie Post 3554 VFW and the Army Honor Guard.

Friends may call at the funeral home, Wednesday from 11 AM - 1 PM.
